Granite Monument Design Decision #3 - Monument Accents
After deciding on a size and basic shape of your monument, there are several options for
adding special accents to either the die or base. These special features personalize the look
of your monument and add a unique touch to your monument design.
Die Accents
After selecting the top and side cuts, there are several additional options you can
select as accents. The two top corners are often cut with a round, chamfer, scotia, ogee,
rabbet, check, or a simple margin accent. These options look very attractive when combined
with a straight polished top. All accents are sized according to the dimensions of the
monument.

Base Accents
Bases can also be modified with specific accents. Popular base accents include
finished sides, side margins, drop washes, and round base ends. Single or double
planters are also a popular option for integrating greenery directly into the monument.
Round edges and planters require extra long bases which may exceed cemetery lot restrictions
in some cases.
